About HomeCostGuide

An independent research site for US homeowners planning a project.

What we do

HomeCostGuide publishes cost guides, calculators, and maintenance research for US home improvement projects. We built it because most cost information online is either a lead-generation form disguised as an article, or a number with no explanation of where it came from. Our guides show the range, the reasoning, and the sources behind it.

How we work

Every cost figure follows the same published methodology: public data sources, a regional adjustment, and a disclosed range rather than false-precision quotes. Guides are drafted with research and editorial assistance, including AI tools for organizing sources and drafting — every published guide is reviewed for accuracy, sourcing, and usefulness before it goes live, as described in our editorial policy.

How we’re funded

HomeCostGuide is supported by advertising. We are not a contractor marketplace, and we don’t accept payment to rank a material, product, or contractor more favorably in a guide. See our editorial policy for the specifics.
